Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015
The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015 ensures that government services are provided to citizens in a transparent, efficient, and time-bound manner. Enforced from April 28, 2015, the Act mandates timely delivery of notified public services by government authorities. To oversee its implementation, the Maharashtra State Right to Public Services Commission was established, comprising a Chief Commissioner and six Commissioners with headquarters in Mumbai and divisional offices across the state. Citizens can file appeals if services are delayed or denied without valid reasons, with a three-tier appeal system in place. In cases of violation, the responsible officer may face penalties of up to ₹5,000. For more details and the list of notified services, visit
