The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a major consumer protection body under the control of the Department of Medical Education and Medicines, Government of Maharashtra. The administration enforces the laws pertaining to providing quality medicines, cosmetics and safe food to the consumers.

The Food and Drug Administration is headquartered at Bandra-Kurla Complex, Bandra (East) Mumbai and has divisional and district level offices. The Commissioner is the head of the administration and is also notified as the Food Safety Commissioner under the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 - The administration has the following separate departments to enforce the Food and Drug Act. The information about it is as follows.

An important function of the Food and Drug Administration is to prevent adulteration of drugs and food. It is the responsibility of this body to enforce the relevant Acts / Rules. The Food and Drug Administration has offices in all the districts of Maharashtra.
